This document discusses pay ranges based on variable factors and how pay ranges are evaluated.
This document is intended for EnterpriseOne users who are setting up the Human Resources and Payroll modules for use by their organization.
The F08290 Pay/Salary Formula File is set up by using P05290 Pay Range Formulas:
When the pay ranges for organization's pay grades are based on variable factors, you can set up pay-range formulas that the system uses to automatically calculate pay ranges for each pay grade. These formulas are based on the job evaluation points. In addition, if a job pays more in one region of the country than in another, you can enter a geographic multiplier in the pay-range formula. The system calculates different minimums, midpoints, and maximums for the different areas, based on the minimum, midpoint, and maximum multipliers, as well as the geographic multiplier.
To use pay-range formulas, you must evaluate the jobs within your organization. You evaluate jobs to determine equitable pay ranges for them.
From the Job Specifications Setup menu (G05BJ4), choose Define Pay Range Formulas.
1. On Work With Pay Range Formulas, click Add.
2. On Pay Range Formulas, complete the following fields:
Effective Date
Pay Class(H/S/P)
Locality
Pay per Point
Based On Amount
Multiplier for Minimum
Multiplier for Maximum
Geographic Multiplier
3. Complete the Rounding Factor field (optional) and click OK.
P052002 Pay Ranges by Job
A pay range (Min, Mid, Max) is attached to a pay grade:
Pay Grade (PGRD)
A code that designates a category for grouping employees according to pay ranges. For each pay grade, you enter a pay range that includes a minimum, a midpoint, and a maximum pay rate. The system uses these pay ranges to calculate compa-ratios for the employees that you assign to pay grades. After you enter a pay grade for an employee, the system displays either an error or a warning message if you enter a rate for the employee that is not within the pay range for the employee's pay grade. To set up pay grades, use Pay Grades by Class (P082001). Menu G05BJ4 Job Specifications Setup.
If you have set up your system to use rates in the Pay Grade Step table as the default pay rates for employees, changing an employee's pay grade step causes the system to automatically update the following fields:
o Salary
o Hourly Rate
o Hours per day
o Hours per year
o Days per year
For job type:
Job Type (Craft) Code (JBCD)
A user defined code (07/G) that defines the jobs within your organization. You can associate pay and benefit information with a job type and apply that information to the employees who are linked to that job type.
A pay grade and a job type are assigned to an employee (on the employee master).
A pay grade (which has the pay range information) and a job type can also be assigned to the job type using:

Answer 1: The pay ranges row disappears when there is a pay grade is because the system should be tracking salary and salary ranges from only one place. By only showing one or the other, this alleviates any confusion to the end user as to which is the correct salary range for a particular job.
